Four Rebel Netters Honored For Classroom Work

July 11, 2014

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Four UNLV men's tennis players were honored for their academic work in 2014.

Senior Tamas Batyi, a hospitality management major, earned a spot on the Academic All-Mountain West Team for the fourth time in his career. Junior Ace Matias, a communication studies major, was a repeat honoree while a pair of freshman pre-business majors -- Ozzy Abraham and Jakob Amilon -- made their first appearance on the list.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-MW Team, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic team at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Two of those same players -- Abraham and Amilon -- also earned the additional honor of being named Mountain West Scholar-Athlete, which goes to those with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better.
