A week ago the Rebels were in the running for a possible bye in next week's WAC Tournament. Losses at UMKC and Air Force, both by a goal late in the second half, have put UNLV into a four-way tie for fourth place in the league at 4-4-1. The top six teams will advance to the tournament, which leaves UNLV needing a win on Saturday to clinch a spot in the top six. It is also possible, if certain scenarios happen, that a tie would advance the Rebels well.
While UNLV will be looking to avoid a three-game losing streak for the first time since 2013, Grand Canyon just recently broke a five-game losing streak of its own in its last game, a 3-2 victory at UMKC. The Antelopes have lost just twice at home, both by a goal to the top two teams in the conference (Seattle and Utah Valley).
Saturday is also Senior Day for the GCU, who will be ending its season as the team is not eligible for the WAC Tournament while the school is in a reclassifying status.
