LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball will travel to Tucson, Ariz., for a Saturday game against No. 13/12 Arizona in what could be the Runnin' Rebels' most challenging game of the season. The Wildcats have the nation's longest home win streak, now at 45 straight games.
The Runnin' Rebels (8-3) are coming off a 66-56 home loss to Arizona State on Wednesday night. After leading by as many as 14 early in the second half, UNLV made just three field goals the rest of the game.
The Wildcats (10-1) will be the third top-15 team that UNLV will face so far this season as the Runnin' Rebels won both of their other such matchups: against then-No. 13/14 Indiana (at Maui Invitational) before Thanksgiving and vs. then-No. 15/16 Oregon (at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas) on Dec. 4.
This will be the third straight year that UNLV and Arizona will face off in men's basketball. Last year, the Runnin' Rebels beat then-No. 3 Arizona at the Thomas & Mack Center, 71-67, on Dec. 23, 2014. UNLV has won three of the last four meetings overall in the series dating back to 2008.
Arizona has won five straight games, including Wednesday night against Northern Arizona (92-37) at home.
Saturday's 7:30 p.m. MST/6:30 p.m. PST game will be televised nationally by ESPN2 with Roxy Bernstein and Sean Farnham calling the action. Jon Sandler and Robert Smith will handle the UNLV radio broadcast, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/100.9 FM.
