Feb. 11, 2015 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV tennis senior Ace Matias was named Mountain West Player of the Week for the first time this season and the sixth time in his career, the league announced Wednesday.
Playing at the No. 1 position in the singles lineup and No. 2 in doubles, the native of Torrance, Calif., helped UNLV to three victories over the weekend over New Mexico State, Weber State and UC Riverside. Matias went a combined 5-0 in singles and doubles, with three of those coming with doubles partner Ruben Alberts.
Matias is now tied with Elliot Wronski for second place at UNLV for the most conference player of the week honors in a career.

The Rebels (3-2) open Mountain West play on Saturday when they host Boise State starting with doubles at 3 p.m. Admission is free of charge and the first 100 fans will receive free Raising Canes.
