LAS VEGAS (AP) Derrick Marks scored 16 points, including two free throws in the final 34 seconds, to help lead Boise State to a 53-48 victory over UNLV Wednesday night.

Boise State (19-7, 9-4 Mountain West Conference) has won nine of its past 10 games and is tied with Wyoming for second place in the conference behind San Diego State.

Jelan Kendrick scored 15 points, but the Runnin' Rebels (14-12, 5-8) shot a season-low 30 percent on 18-of-60 shooting.

UNLV held a 26-21 lead at halftime but was outscored 12-2 in the first 5 1/2 minutes of the second half. The Rebels missed nine of their first 10 shots in the half.

The loss came on a night that UNLV honored the late Jerry Tarkanian, who died last week at age 84. Tarkanian's Runnin' Rebels won the 1990 national championship and had four Final Four appearances.

After the game, the lights on the famed Las Vegas Strip were dimmed for three minutes in honor of Tarkanian.
