2015 Jackrabbit Invitational Results
PRIMM, Nev. - The UNLV men's golf team is tied for the team lead after the first two rounds of the 6th Annual Jackrabbit Invitational, which were played Monday at Primm Valley Golf Club (par-72, 7,131-yard Desert Course). The tournament is being hosted by South Dakota State.
The Rebels shot an opening-round 16-under 272 and followed that up with a second-round 21-under 267 for a 36-hole total of 539. Tennessee is also tied for first after rounds of 14- and 23-under. Weber State is third, 35 shots back at 2-under, followed by SIUE at 1-over and Drake rounds out the top five at 2-over. There are a total of 15 teams competing.
UNLV senior Kurt Kitayama has a three-shot individual lead at 13-under after a first-round 5-under 67 and a second-round 8-under 64. Freshman John Oda and sophomore Redford Bobbitt, who is competing as an individual, are both in a four-way tie for second at 10-under. Oda shot two rounds of 5-under 67, while Bobbitt had a 3-under 69 and 7-under 65. Senior Carl Jonson is tied for sixth at 9-under after rounds of 6-under 66 and 3-under 69, while Taylor Montgomery is the fifth Rebel in the top 10 as he is tied for 10th at 5-under after scores of even-par 72 and 5-under 67.
Other Rebel scores: senior Nicholas Maruri is tied for 19th at 1-under (74-69) and freshman Shintaro Ban, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 23rd at even par (71-73).
The tournament has a total of 87 individuals and will wrap up on Tuesday with 18 holes.
