LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's tennis team closed out its non-conference schedule by posting a 5-2 victory over Southern Utah on Tuesday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Rebels improved to 7-12 overall.

The hosts won all three doubles matches to earn a 1-0 lead. Anett Ferenczi-Bako and Mercedes Lopez Valez downed Veronika Rogova and Teresa De Enrique, 6-2, at the top spot; Paola Artiga and Santa Shumilina doubled up Jane Marushko and Laura Martin, 6-3, at No. 2; and Alexis Garrett and Iren Kotseva blanked Alba Payeras and Emily Lemmon, 6-0, at the bottom of the lineup.

Moving to singles, the Thunderbirds scored points at the top of the lineup but UNLV won every match from 3-6 to clinch it. Kotseva whitewashed De Enrique, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3; Artiga defeated Payeras, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 4; Lopez Artiga used a super-tiebreaker to down Martin, 6-0, 0-6, 1-0 (10-4) at No. 5; and Garrett shut out Lemmon, 6-0, 6-0, on court six.

UNLV will return to action on Friday when it plays at San Diego State.
