LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's golf senior Kurt Kitayama and freshman John Oda have both been named to the PING All-West Region Team as the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) handed out its annual awards this past weekend.
Both players were also honored as members of the All-Mountain West Team last month, while Oda was named the league's Freshman of the Year. This all-region honor marks the second of Kitayama's career as he also was named to the West's squad last year.
Oda, from Honolulu, Hawaii, led UNLV in scoring average this season (entering the NCAA Championship), recording 70.48 strokes per round, while Kitayama, from Chico, Calif., was second on the team at 71.64.
A total of 155 players were named all-region across six regions: Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West. The full GCAA release may be found here.
