"The team competed very well today," said UNLV cross country head coach Jebreh Harris. "I love how they worked with and motivated each other. The course was very soft, so the times will be deceiving on how we performed. We had a tough week of training, but how they handled themselves made me proud. We still have a bit of work to do; the season is still somewhat early, but I know we are heading in the right direction."
SDSU was led by three of its own placing in the top 10, including Elaine Ribeiro, who won the race in 18:09.74. USD's Samantha Mattice was second in 18:14.39.
Rounding out the Invitational's field were, in order: Cal State San Bernardino (80 points), USC (119), Pepperdine (145), UC San Diego (215), Concordia (246), Marymount (302), Soka (313), Western New Mexico (316) and Glendale CC (355).
The Rebels return to action at their own UNLV Cross Country Invitational in North Las Vegas at Craig Ranch Regional Park on Oct. 3.
