Sept. 29, 2015 2015 UNLV Invitational: Meet Information | Course Map
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The Rebel cross country team will host its own UNLV Invitational Saturday morning at North Las Vegas' Craig Ranch Regional Park. The meet will consist of five races -- all of which are 5Ks -- with the women's college/university starting the day's action at 8:15 am. The varsity girls (8:45 am), varsity boys (9:30 am), open girls/high school (10:20 am) and open boys/high school (11:00 am) round out the Invite's schedule. The event is free and open to the public.
UNLV, who has finished third in both of its previous outings this season, will welcome the San Diego State Aztecs, Southern Utah Thunderbirds and USC Trojans to Southern Nevada for the women's college/university race. Just two weeks ago, the Aztecs, Rebels and Trojans finished first, third and fifth, respectively, in a 5K hosted by San Diego State at Mission Bay's Tecolote Shores North Park.
"We are excited to host our home cross country meet," said head coach Jebreh Harris. "Craig Ranch Regional Park is a great venue in North Las Vegas for us to compete. We have three quality squads that will be attending our meet this weekend, plus there will be around 20 local high school teams participating in the other four races. Our Rebels are ready and motivated for the challenge of our competition Saturday, and we'd love for the local community to come out and support us."
The trio of Spencer Moore, Rebecca Hobby and Nikki Regalado has paced the Rebels at the first two events of the season. Regalado, Hobby and Moore finished ninth through 11th at Nevada, Reno's Nature's Bakery Twilight Classic on Sept. 4, while the order was Moore (sixth), Hobby (eighth) and Regalado (11th) in San Diego.
Those three as well as Brooke Cassar, Lindy Eskin, Iris Munguia, Sara Williams and Angela Ziff will round out the harriers competing for the Scarlet & Gray Saturday.
The men's college/university 6K, which was scheduled for 7:30 am Saturday, has been canceled.
