Sept. 5, 2015 2015 Nature's Bakery Twilight Classic Results
SPARKS, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV cross country team finished second overall under the lights at Shadow Mountain Park at the Nature's Bakery Twilight Classic Friday night. The Rebels finished with 61 points in the 4K that was won and hosted by Nevada, Reno (21 points). The four-team field was rounded out by UC Riverside (66) in third and UCLA in fourth (89).
UNLV's top-three finishers were Nikki Regalado (15:28), Rebecca Hobby (15:29) and Spencer Moore (15:29), who finished ninth through 11th, respectively.
Angela Ziff (15th/16:02) and Sara Williams (16th/16:08) also scored for the Rebels. Auzsane Crowe-Carter (16:35), Lindy Eskin (16:44) and Brooke Cassar (16:45) also ran in the race for the Scarlet & Gray.
"We placed well tonight," said UNLV cross country head coach Jebreh Harris. "The goal was to stay together for the first half of the race, and we did a good job of that. Rebecca and Nikki did a good job of leading the team tonight. We will continue to train with a sense of urgency and progress as the season goes on."
UNR had five runners finish in the top seven, including Emily Myers (14:35) and Caitlin Devitt-Payne (14:49), who were first and second.
Friday night's meet was the first of two trips to the Reno area for the Rebels this season. The Montreux Golf Course will play host to the Mountain West Championships (6K) on Oct. 30.
Next up for UNLV is a trip to America's Finest City for San Diego State's Aztec Invitational on Sept. 18.
