UNLV Begins Homestand With Utah State Contest...After splitting a pair of Mountain West conference games on the road, the Lady Rebels are back in the Cox Pavilion for two home games this week, beginning with Wednesday's contest against the Utah State Aggies. The game tips off at 7 pm in the Cox Pavilion, and the first 75 fans will receive a free headband.
UNLV comes into the game one win (2-3) behind the Aggies (3-3) in league play, and is a perfect 13-0 all-time against Utah State in Las Vegas.
Key for UNLV in the game will be keeping out of foul trouble, as the Lady Rebels are expected to dress only nine players for Wednesday's contest. They will also look for a while to slow down Utah State leading scorer Funda Nakkasoglu. The sophomore ranks 12th in the nation in the scoring, while the next highest scorer is at 8.6 points per game. UNLV brings a more balanced attack, with four players currently averaging double-figures. Despite the absence of senior center Aley Rohde, out indefinitely with a foot injury, the Lady Rebels continue to dominate on the boards, as they rank sixth in the nation in both total rebounds and offensive rebounds per game.
