"Boise State came at us this afternoon and we just didn't answer like we should have," said head coach Cindy Fredrick. "Our passing was really off, which made it almost impossible to run our middles. We became too predictable as Alexis (Patterson) didn't have options. We have to improve our serve and receive. We have a really good offense when our passes are there."
Elsa Descamps led the Scarlet & Gray with six kills while Bree Hammel, Ashley Owens and Alyssa Wing had five apiece. Descamps added five digs and three assisted blocks. Hamme chipped in eight digs, three assisted blocks, one assist and one ace. Owens led the team in total blocks (one solo). Wing notched two digs, two assisted blocks and one assist.
Alexis Patterson had a team-high 23 assists to go along with four kills, four digs and three assisted blocks.
Elisa Woinowsky led the team defensively with 11 digs.
The Broncos were paced by Sierra Nobley's 17 kills, and she also had six digs, three assisted blocks, two assists and one ace. Sabryn Osburn had 13 kills of her own, plus two assisted blocks and one dig. Jaymee-Lee Bulda quarterbacked the offense with a match-best 43 assists. Maddi Osburn and Emily Sullivan helped out defensively with 27 and 11 digs, respectively.
After playing 12 of its last 16 matches on the road, UNLV returns to the Cox Pavilion and Las Vegas for two contests this week. The Rebels will welcome the San Jose State Spartans to town Thursday (6:00 pm). Two days later, the Fresno State Bulldogs will visit town with a Saturday matinee (3:00 pm).
