Amilon's Stay At Indoor Nationals Ends

Nov. 4, 2016

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV senior tennis star Jakob Amilon ended his stay at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, New York, by losing his first consolation match on Friday.

Despite a long tiebreaker battle, Amilon, ranked 124th in the nation, was ousted in straight sets from the event by Florida's Alfredo Perez, seeded fifth and ranked 37th, 6-2, 7-6 (12-10), at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The native of Stockholm, Sweden, was the first UNLV men's player to appear at the indoor nationals since Henner Nehles in 2004. He closed his final fall record at 6-4 and will next be in action when the Rebels open their dual-match season at home vs. New Mexico State on February 3.
