Musovski Picks Up Another Region Honor

Dec. 6, 2016

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Junior Danny Musovski received region honors for the second straight year, as Rebel forward was named to the NSCAA All-West Region Second Team, the national organization announced on Tuesday. This is his second career honor after his first-team selection in 2015.

Musovski, a native of Henderson (Liberty HS), was one of the top 15 scorers in the nation for the second straight season, despite missing five games in September with a hamstring injury. He led the Rebels and was second in the WAC with 12 goals, which ranked him a tie for 14th in the nation, while his 30 points on the year also rank him 14th in the NCAA.

He made his biggest impact of the year just when the Rebels needed it most, scoring both goals to lead the fourth-seeded Rebels past Air Force 2-1 in the WAC Tournament championship game. That gave UNLV its second WAC title in three years, and sent the team to the NCAA Tournament also for the second time in three years. UNLV wasn't done just yet, as Musovski was one of six Rebels to converted a PK to give the team a 6-5 shootout win at No. 18 San Diego State in the NCAA First Round. The Rebels would move onto face Denver, and fell 3-0 to the current College Cup participant.

Musovski was named both All-WAC First Team, and WAC Tournament MVP, both for the second time in his career. He is the 11th player in team history to receive multiple all-region honors.
