UNLV, SJSU Face Off In Battle Of 4th-Place Teams...
The Lady Rebels have a challenge in front of them as they attempt to hold onto their fourth-place standing in the Mountain West, as they begin a week of two road games with Wednesday's contest at San Jose State, the lone meeting of the regular season between the two.
SJSU is also tied for fourth in the conference, along with Utah State, all at 6-5, while New Mexico is not far behind. UNLV not only will look for a win to stay at the top of that pack, it will also be looking to avenge last year's two-point loss in the regular season finale. The Spartans made a pair of free throws in the final seconds to ruin Senior Day for UNLV in a 99-97 win.
Wednesday's game also features two of the top scorers in the Mountain West, and both are in their first year with their respective teams. Dez Ramos for SJSU is second in the conference in scoring after transferring in from Weber State, while Dakota Gonzalez paces UNLV in her sophomore year after a year at Kansas.
Wednesday is also a battle of contrasting styles. SJSU leads the league in scoring at 73.9 points per game, UNLV has the second-best defense 56.7 at points per game.
