SALT LAKE CITY, UT (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team lost a tough 4-3 match to No. 74 ranked Utah Friday afternoon at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center.

The Rebels fell to 5-4, while the Utes improved to 15-3.

Utah began the day by sweeping two doubles matches for one point.

The Rebels were put in the position to have to rally in singles and did just that; however, the netters' came up just short.

In singles, UNLV leader Jakob Amilon got the Rebels on the board by scoring the first point, easing by Matt Cowley 6-2, 6-0 at the top position. Ruben Alberts tied the match up at 2 after downing Egbert Weverrick 7-6(4), 7-6(5) at No. 4. The final point scored for the Rebels was by Richard Solberg, who tied the match once again at 3 after outlasting Freddie McGeehan 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 on court six. The Utes took the second three-setter of the day on court two to clinch it.

Next up, UNLV will stay in the beehive state to play BYU on Saturday beginning with doubles at 11 a.m. at the Indoor Tennis Courts.
