STANFORD, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 5-under-par 275 on Saturday and finished in second place at The Goodwin, which was played at Stanford Golf Course (par 70, 6,727 yards).
UC Davis led wire-to-wire and captured the team title by 10 shots at 13-under. The Rebels finished the 54-hole tournament at 3-under 837. Stanford was third at 1-under, Colorado was fourth at 6-over and Stanford's "B" team and Oregon finished in a tie for fifth at 8-over. There were a total of 26 teams competing.
Individually, UC Davis' Luke Vivolo also led wire-to-wire and won medalist honors by a shot at 10-under 200 after a final-round 2-under 68. Oregon's Aaron Wise finished second at 9-under, while UNLV sophomore John Oda was third at 8-under. Oda shot a 3-under during the final round, which included three birdies.
Rebel senior Zane Thomas also finished in the top 10 as he was seventh at 3-under after a final-round 2-under.
Other Rebels: freshman Harry Hall tied for 25th at 3-over after a final-round 1-over, sophomore Ben Davis (played as an individual) tied for 41st at 6-over after a final-round 2-over, sophomore Shintaro Ban tied for 50th at 7-over after a final-round 1-over, while senior AJ McInerney tied for 99th at 14-over after a final-round 1-under. There were a total of 138 golfers competing.
UNLV will back in action April 9-10, at the Robert Kepler Invitational at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.
