Men's Tennis Picks Up Road Win Against Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team won on the road for the first time this season Thursday, 4-3 over Fresno State at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.

The Rebels improved to 8-6 overall and 2-0 in Mountain West Conference play while the Bulldogs fell to 8-11/0-2.

UNLV grabbed a quick 1-0 lead by taking both completed doubles matches in a spirited session. Adam Gage-Brown and Evaldo Neto outlasted Nikolas Papic and Youssef Hassan 7-5 on court two while Alexandr Cozbinov and Richard Solberg got by Jeremy Moser and Patrik Pech 7-5 at the bottom of the lineup to clinch it.

Moving to singles play, UNLV took a 2-1 lead when Jakob Amilon downed Papic 6-1, 6-3 at the top position. Cozbinov tied the match up at three by defeating Mantas Bugailiskis 6-2, 6-4 at no. 2. All eyes moved to court six where the remaining match went to a third set and was clinched by the Rebels' Solberg who rallied past Jakob Keppelmann 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-1.

UNLV will continue league play on the road Sunday against in-state rival Nevada, Reno. The match in Reno is part of the Governor's Series presented by NV Energy and Barrick Gold. Doubles play will begin at 12 p.m. PT.
