LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 25 UNLV men's golf team will compete this weekend at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, which will be held Saturday-Sunday, April 9-10, at The Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course (par 71, 7,455 yards) in Columbus, Ohio.
The 16-team tournament was scheduled for 54 holes, but based on forecasted inclement weather, it has been shortened to 36. Shotgun starts at 7:30 a.m. PT are planned for both days of competition.
The field will be made up of Bowling Green, Dayton, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Liberty, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Southern Illinois, UAB, UNLV, Wright State and West Virginia.
The Rebels' lineup includes sophomore John Oda, senior AJ McInerney, sophomore Shintaro Ban, freshman Harry Hall and senior Zane Thomas.
UNLV finished fifth at last year's Kepler Intercollegiate. Georgia Tech won the team title at 4-under, while Yellow Jacket teammates Anders Albertson and Vince Whaley tied for medalist honors at 5-under. Oda was UNLV's top individual finisher as he tied for seventh at 1-over.
UNLV has played in nine tournaments this season, four times finishing in the top five. The Rebels are coming off first- and second-place finishes in each of their last two tournaments and have recorded a total of two team victories this year.
