COLUMBUS, Ohio (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 25 UNLV men's golf team played through cold temperatures and snow flurries all day and fired a 5-over-par 289 on Saturday at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, which is being played at The Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course (par 71, 7,455 yards).
The Rebels hold a two-shot lead at the tournament that was shortened to 36 holes in advance because of forecasted inclement weather. The start of Saturday's first round was delayed multiple times before finally beginning at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET.
Host Ohio State is second at 7-over, UAB and Michigan State are tied for third at 9-over, while there is a two-way tie for fifth between Kent State and Penn State at 15-over. There are 16 teams competing.
Individually, UNLV sophomore Shintaro Ban and UAB's Taylor Eyster are both tied for first after shooting 1-under 70. Ohio State's Tee-k Kelly is third at even par and five golfers are tied for fourth at 1-over.
UNLV has three other players in the top 10 as sophomore John Oda, senior AJ McInerney and freshman Harry Hall are all tied for ninth at 2-over. Senior Zane Thomas is tied for 32nd at 4-over. There are a total of 84 golfers competing.
Sunday's final round is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. If there are minimal weather delays, there will be live scoring, which may be accessed through a link at UNLVRebels.com.
