Oda Named Honorable Mention All-America

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's golf sophomore John Oda has been named honorable mention All-America for the second straight year as the 2016 PING Division I All-America Teams were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Thursday.

The Rebels have had a player earn All-America recognition in 25 of the last 28 years.

The All-America first, second and third teams each have 10 members, there are a total of 31 golfers who were named honorable mention.

Oda was also selected to the PING All-West Region Team for the second straight year as well as being named All-Mountain West.

Oda, who is from Honolulu, Hawaii, led UNLV in scoring average this season recording 71.63 strokes per round. In 13 tournaments, totaling 38 rounds, he shot in the 60s eight times and was par or better on 23 occasions. His best finish was an individual victory at the LMU Invitational, which was held at Lake Las Vegas in February. He recorded a total of 10 top-20 finishes this season, which included six top 10s.
