LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's golf senior AJ McInerney was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced this week.
A total of 212 players earned the honor in Division I this year and to be eligible, student-athletes must have been a junior or senior academically during the 2015-16 season, have competed in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participated in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, had a stroke average under 76.0 and maintained a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
McInerney was also recently named to the Academic All-Mountain West team.
On the course this season, McInerney played in 10 tournaments for the Rebels, finishing in the individual top five on four occasions. He earned medalist honors at the LMU Invitational, had five total rounds in the 60s during the year and shot par or better in 11 rounds. His scoring average was 73.24 per round.
