@UNLVGolf | Results ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 25 UNLV men's golf team finished in seventh place after a final-round 8-over-par 296 on Saturday at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, which was played at the UNM Championship Course (par 72, 7,555 yards).
San Diego State captured the team title by 10 shots at 1-under 863 after a final-round 2-over 290. Colorado State finished second at 9-over, followed by BYU at 14-over, Washington at 15-over, while host New Mexico and Colorado rounded out the top five, both at 18-over. New Mexico entered this weekend's event as the four-time defending team champion. UNLV finished the tournament with a 54-hole score of 20-over 884. The tournament featured 16 teams.
Individually, Colorado State's Blake Cannon earned medalist honors by two shots at 6-under 210 after a final-round 2-under 70. San Diego State's PJ Samiere finished second at 4-under.
UNLV junior Shintaro Ban led the Rebels and finished in a three-way tie for third at 2-under 214 after a final-round-low 4-under 68. He had seven birdies and three bogeys on the Saturday.
Rebel junior John Oda also finished in the top 15 as he tied for 14th at 4-over 220 after a final-round 4-over 76.
Other Rebel scores: freshman Yash Majmudar, who competed as an individual, tied for 34th at 9-over 225 after a final-round 1-under 71, junior Ben Davis and freshman Justin Kim both tied for 48th at 11-over 227 after final-round scores of 3-over 75 and 5-over 77, respectively, and sophomore Harry Hall tied for 56th at 12-over 228 after a final-round 6-over 78. There were a total of 92 golfers competing.
UNLV will be back in action Oct. 3-4, at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala.
