LARAMIE, Wyo. - The UNLV women's soccer team improved to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in Mountain West play as it defeated Wyoming, 3-1, on Friday afternoon at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex.
It marked the Rebels' second straight victory and fourth in their last five games. It also evened their road record to 2-2 on the season.
UNLV senior Jordan Magnin got the Rebels on the board first with her first goal of the season, off an assist by junior Sophie Cortes in the 16th minute. Magnin followed that with her second goal of the game, off an assist by senior Lily Sender in the 36th minute, which gave the Rebels a 2-0 lead.
In the 76th minute, UNLV freshman Michaela Morris scored her fifth goal of the year and the Rebels held a commanding 3-0 advantage.
Wyoming scored late - in the 90th minute - on a goal from Brooklynn Mooney, her first of the season. With the loss, the Cowgirls fell to 5-6-1, 0-3 MW.
UNLV outshot Wyoming 15-8 for the game, while it held a six-shot advantage in shots on goal, 10-4.
With 30 total goals on the season, the Rebels have matched year's total â€" with eight regular season games left to play. Their 27 assists are just five shy of the single-season record of 32 set in 2015.
UNLV will be back in action on Sunday at Colorado State with a start time set for 12 p.m. PT.
