@unlvwsoccer | 2017 Schedule | Box Score | Season StatisticsLAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - For the first time during Mountain West play this season, UNLV women's soccer picked up two victories on the same weekend, beating Wyoming 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Peter Johann Memorial Field. The match marked the end of a four-game homestand, which saw the Rebels go 3-1 to move their home record to 8-1 in 2017. The win also improved UNLV's overall record to 12-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play with five games remaining in the regular season.

Redshirt sophomore Michaela Morris led the way on the weekend, scoring two goals to go along with an assist in the two victories. Morris now has career-highs in goals (7), assists (4) and points (18), with her goals and points ranking second on the team only behind senior Sophie Cortes.

THE TURNING POINT: Goals by Morris and junior Cailtyn Kreutz scored six minutes apart in the 22nd and 28th minutes, respectively, gave the Rebels a cushion that was ultimately needed in the second half as the Cowgirls cut the lead to 2-1 in the 59th minute.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV out-shot Wyoming 25-10 in the game and in total out-shot its opponents 47-12 in the two home wins.

REBEL(S) OF THE GAME: Senior midfielder Sophie Cortes and junior Amanda Galbraith share Co-Rebel of the Game honors as the two connected on not one, but two sequences that set up the goals by Morris and Kreutz. Galbraith got the first sequence started, using a nifty move through the legs of the Wyoming defender before a quick give-and-go with Morris. When Galbraith got the ball back she sent a perfect long ball to a streaking Cortes to the left side of the 18-yard box, who then sent it back in the middle of the box to the awaiting foot of Morris, who buried the ball in the left corner of the net. The second sequence began when Cortes took the ball away in the midfield and sent it to Galbraith, who took a couple dribbles to her right before finding Kreutz on the left side of the goal just inside the box. Kreutz made a nice move on the defender, tripped but maintained her balance and managed to find the back of the net for the second score.

QUOTABLE:

On going 2-0 during a conference weekend for the first time this season:

"It was a good weekend for us, anytime you can pick up two wins in conference that's great. Wyoming is always a tough team to play again, big strong kids, but first half we were fantastic. The second half was a dog fight but can't complain with the W." - Head coach Chris Shaw

On going on the road for four of the last five regular season games:

"We don't really think too much about it. We try to keep the routine the same whether we are home or on the road. We expect to win whether we are at home or on the road. The key is just keeping the routine the same." - Head coach Chris Shaw

REBEL NOTES:
* UNLV is now 8-1 at Peter Johann Memorial Field this season, having allowed just seven goals on its home field.
* At 12 wins, Rebels are just four shy of tying the program record of 16, set just last year, with five regular season games to play.
* First time during conference play the Rebels have won both games over the weekend.
* The Rebels have not lost two games in a row in more than two years - a span of 48 games.
* UNLV finished its non-conference slate with an 8-1 record, a program best through the first nine games, and an .889 winning percentage - also a program-best.
* Rebels have 31 goals on 28 assists this year.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: With three weeks left in the regular season, UNLV will be on the road for the next two weekends for four of the final five games. Next weekend the Rebels will be in Northern California for a Friday match at Fresno State and a Sunday contest at San Jose State.
