PALO ALTO, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team fell 7-0 in a road match with No. 20 Stanford Saturday afternoon at the Taube Tennis Center.
The Rebels dropped to 4-1 on the year while the Cardinal improved to 4-1.
Doubles started the match and were hotly contested. However, UNLV ultimately fell 7-5 at No.1 and three and lost 6-3 on court two as the Cardinal took a 1-0 lead.
In singles, the hosts, boasting three ranked players, swept all six matches. The lone Rebels to secure a set was Jakob Amilon, who won the first on court one in a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0(10-7) final vs. No. 7 Tom Fawett and Evaldo Neto, who won the second on court four in a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 final vs. No. 75 Jack Barber.
UNLV returns to the courts tomorrow to face Santa Clara (5-1) beginning with doubles matches at 11 a.m. PT at the Degheri Tennis Center.
