LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 16 UNLV men's golf team will continue its spring season at the 45th annual ASU Thunderbird Invitational at Arizona State's Karsten Golf Course (par 71, 7,002 yards) in Tempe, Ariz., on Saturday-Sunday, March 18-19.
The tournament features a 15-team field: Arizona, host Arizona State, Cal Poly, California, Colorado State, Hawaii, Iowa State, Nevada, Reno, San Diego, San Francisco, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UNLV, Utah and Washington.
The 54-hole tournament will consist of 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday. Tee times will be at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday with a shotgun start and 7:30 a.m. on Sunday off hole 1 and 8 a.m. off hole 10.
The lineup for the Rebels this weekend will consist of juniors John Oda and Shintaro Ban, sophomore Harry Hall, and freshmen Justin Kim and Derek Castillo. Kim is coming off his first collegiate win in last weekend's Jackrabbit Invitational, which was played at Las Vegas' Siena Golf Club.
UNLV has now played in eight tournaments during the 2016-17 season and has recorded a first, three seconds and a third-place finish.
UNLV did not compete at last year's Thunderbird Invitational. Iowa State won the 2016 team title, while former ASU golfer Jon Rahm earned medalist honors for the third straight year.
The Rebels have won two team titles at the Thunderbird throughout the years (2005 and 2013), while former Rebel Derek Ernst earned medalist honors at the event in 2012. Live scoring of the tournament will be available at Golfstat.com.
