LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Recent UNLV volleyball signee Thea Sweder is participating in the 2018 FIVB World Championship - Women's European Qualification for Norway this week. Sweder and her Norwegian teammates will play a total of five, second-round matches at the Sports Games Palace in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Norway, which has already faced Azerbaijan and The Netherlands - both 3-0 losses, will face Ukraine, Denmark and Israel over the next three days in Pool E play.

Thus far, Sweder has played in all six sets and had one block and two attack attempts.

The first-place team from the six pools will automatically advance to the World Championship in Japan in the fall of 2018. Those six that finish in second place move to a third round (August 22-27), which only the first- and second-place squads advance to Japan.

The native of Sand, Norway, has previously suited up for her home country in the 2015 CEV U18/U19 and 2016 CEV U19/U20 European Championships.

In 2015, rising junior Elsa Descamps suited up for France's U20 Junior National Team at the European Qualification tournament.
