MALIBU, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's tennis standout Alexandr Cozbinov bounced back Friday to win his opening match in consolation play at the 2017 Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, California.

Cozbinov rallied to upset 63rd-ranked Razvan Grigorescu of Nebraska-Omaha in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. The senior Rebel will now face Christofer Goncalves of New Mexico State Saturday morning.

Now in its third year of existence, the Oracle ITA Masters is being hosted by Pepperdine University and the Malibu Racquet Club. The event features 32 singles competitors per gender with Cozbinov representing the men's program from the Mountain West.
