FORT COLLINS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team (4-11, 0-2 MW) suffered a 3-0 loss (25-16, 25-19, 25-8) to the No. 23 Colorado State Rams (12-2, 2-0 MW) Saturday afternoon at Moby Arena.
The Rams outhit the Rebels by .467 points (.425 to -.042), with help from 24 more kills (44-17) and 10 fewer errors (10-20) in nine more attack attempts (80-71). CSU hit .375 or better in all three sets of play and topped out with a .474 effort in the third frame. UNLV, other hand, had its best hitting performance in the second stanza (.143).
STAT OF THE GAME: CSU had a minimum plus-9 kill-error ratio in all three sets, as its offense only committed two errors in both the first and third frames and a total of six in the second.
REBEL OF THE GAME: Ashley Owens had team highs in both kills (seven) and total blocks (three/all assisted).
QUOTABLE: "We simply got out powered on all fronts today," said head coach Cindy Fredrick. "The only bright spot for the Rebels today was our serving."
REBEL NOTES:
*With her two total blocks (one solo, one assisted), Elsa Descamps moved into ninth place with 244 total blocks in UNLV's all-time record book.
*Saturday's match was head coach Cindy Fredrick's 200th at UNLV. Fredrick, the winningest head coach in program history, joins Deitre Collins (225 matches) and Allison Keeley (204) to have graced the Rebel sideline a minimum of 200 times.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: With its five-match road trip complete, UNLV will return to Las Vegas and the Cox Pavilion to open its portion of Mountain West play. The Rebels will host Utah State Thursday night (6:00 pm). Two days later, the Scarlet & Gray will welcome Boise State to town for a Saturday affair (3:00 pm).
