Jan. 17, 2018 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV me n's basketball team (13-5, 2-3 MW) lost to New Mexico, 85-81, Wednesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Senior guard Jordan Johnson scored a game-high-tying 19 points and had five assists. Senior guard Jovan Mooring scored 18 points and junior forward Shakur Juiston recorded his eighth double-double of the season with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
The Lobos (9-11, 4-3 MW) had six players score in double figures and were led by Makuach Maluach's 19 points.
THE TURNING POINT: UNLV led by 11 with 6:48 to play, but New Mexico went on a 13-3 run to cut UNLV's lead to just one (70-69) with 4:22 left. UNLV then led 76-71 with 2:14 left but the Lobos scored the game's final nine points, including a key 3-pointer with 11 seconds left to put them up by two.
STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV was just 2 of 13 on 3-pointers and 19 of 30 from the free-throw line.
NOTES:
- The game was tied at 35 at halftime.
- UNLV was 0 for 7 from 3-point range in the first half and made its first 3-pointer with 5:37 to play in the game.

- UNLV used the same starting lineup for the 18th straight game.
- UNLV out-rebounded New Mexico, 40-34.
