Musovski, Mehlich, Gonzalez all named to the league's second team.
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -Â A total of six UNLV men's soccer players have picked up season awards from the WAC, including three named to the all-conference second team, it was announced by the league at the pre-tournament banquet Tuesday night in Seattle. Timo Mehlich, Adam Musovski and Marco Gonzalez were all second-team selections for the Rebels, while Jesus Partida was named Honorable Mention. First-year players Nico Classen and Jake Mecham were named to the All-Freshman team as well.
Mehlich, a junior and Mönchengladbach, Germany native, earns his third straight conference honor after finishing second on the team with 10 points off three goals and four assists, despite missing five full games during the season with an injury. He's joined on the second team by Musovski from Las Vegas. The senior is on the second team after earning first team honors a year ago. Musovski has two goals this year and anchored a defense that has posted six shutouts this season. A year after earning Honorable Mention status, Gonzalez led the Rebels in points (23) and goals (10), both of which ranked him fifth in the WAC.
Reno native Partida, who was on the All-Freshman team a year ago with Gonzalez, made a big impact on the team in his sophomore season thanks to his three goals, all of which were game-winners, which ranks him among the league leaders as well. For the second straight year, UNLV placed two on the All-Freshman team, starting with Classen (Mönchengladbach, German), who set a UNLV freshman record with nine assists, which also ties him for second in the league. Mecham (Las Vegas) meanwhile has moved into the starting lineup on the backline and also posted one game-winner in UNLV's 3-2 win over Incarnate Word.
