BREMERTON, Wash. - The No. 21 UNLV men's golf team shot a second-round even-par 288 Saturday to take a five-shot lead at the Mountain West Championship, which is being played at the Olympic Course (par 72, 7,115 yards) at Gold Mountain Golf Club.
The Rebels have a 36-hole total of 4-under 572, while Colorado State is second at 1-over. Fresno State and Wyoming are both tied for third at 6-over. UNR rounds out the top five at 8-over.
UNLV senior Shintaro Ban tied for the low round Saturday with a 5-under 67, following his opening-round 4-under 68, and holds a four-shot individual lead with a 9-under 135 total. UNR's Grant Booth is second at 5-under and there is a four-way tie for third at 3-under.
STATS OF THE DAY: UNLV is the only team under par for the tournament and has three individuals in the top 16.
REBEL OF THE DAY: Ban recorded six birdies with a bogey during the second round.

REBEL NOTES:
UNLV has won each of the last two Mountain West titles and is seeking its fifth overall.
The Rebels have had six individual MW title holders, the last coming in 2015 (Kurt Kitayama).
In 11 events this season, UNLV has recorded eight top-five finishes, including two team titles and two runner-up performances.
After 11 straight years in Tucson, Arizona, the MW Championship is being held in the state of Washington for the first time.
The MW Championship is also an opportunity for three more points in the Governor's Series, presented by NV Energy and Barrick Gold. UNR is currently in fifth place, 12 shots behind UNLV.
UNLV also captured an NCAA Regional title last year and advanced to the `Elite Eight' at the NCAA Championship.
Ban and Hall are both 2017 All-Mountain West Team honorees, and Ban earned honorable mention All-America. In addition, Ban was named an All-America Scholar.
Ban and Hall will both compete in this year's Arnold Palmer Cup, while Ban has been named a semifinalist for the highest honor in college golf - The Ben Hogan Award.
UNLV has an active NCAA record of 29 consecutive regional appearances.
This season marks the 31st at UNLV for Hall of Fame head coach Dwaine Knight.
