SAN DIEGO (UNLVRebels.com) - The fourth-seeded UNLV men's tennis team ended its season with a 4-0 loss at the hands of top-seeded Utah State in Friday's semifinal round of the Mountain West Tennis Championship being played at the Aztec Tennis Center.

The Rebels finish the year at 14-10 overall while the Aggies improved to 18-8 and 9-0 vs. MW opponents in 2018.

Defending champion USU bolted to a 1-0 lead by winning both completed doubles matches. The Aggies then breezed in singles play after winning the first set on all six courts.

REBEL OF THE MATCH: Junior Richard Solberg won the only set for his team. After losing the first against Jose Carvahal on court five, Solberg rallied to take the second and was tied 2-2 in the third when it was halted.

NET NOTE: This marked the second straight season that Utah State defeated UNLV in the MW tourney. The Aggies downed the Rebels 4-0 in the title match a year ago in Boise, Idaho.

QUOTABLE: "After losing the doubles point, we did not respond with a good start in singles and I feel that cost us the match."

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: While the season has ended for the team, senior star Alexandr Cozbinov will look to earn a bid to the NCAA Singles Championship, which will be staged May 23-28 on the campus of Wake Forest in North Carolina.
