LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - For the second straight year and 13th time in program history, a UNLV men's golfer has been named the Conference Player of the Year.
Rebel senior Shintaro Ban is this year's winner and the fifth in UNLV men's golf history to earn the Mountain West honor.
The league announced its 2017-18 season awards and all-conference team on Friday and UNLV has a league-high four student-athletes on the list.
UNLV's Jack Trent earned the league's Freshman of the Year award, becoming the second Rebel to do so in the last three years and the third in four seasons, while Ban, Trent, junior Harry Hall and freshman Garrick Higgo were all named All-Mountain West. This year marks the third straight that both Ban and Hall have earned all-conference honors.
The No. 20 Rebels are coming off a third straight Mountain West Conference Championship and are waiting to find out their seed and site for the NCAA Regional, which starts Monday, May 14. The selections will be announced on Wednesday, May 2. It will mark UNLV's NCAA-record 30th straight appearance in the postseason.

Out of 36 total rounds, he has shot 20 in the 60s and 29 at par or better.
Hall, from Hayle, England, will also compete in this year's Arnold Palmer Cup, but for the international squad. He is second on the Rebel team in scoring average with 71.22 and in 12 tournaments has recorded eight top-20 finishes, three top-10s and a top-five (second place at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas).
