LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's golf freshman Jack Trent has been named the Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday. This is Trent's first career MW Golfer of the Month/Week accolade and the team's sixth of the season.
Trent led the No. 23 Rebels to a fifth-place finish at The Goodwin in San Francisco last weekend. He was the highest Rebel individual finisher, tying for seventh out of 135 golfers.
In his fourth top-10 performance of the season, he shot back-to-back 4-under-par 67s (second and final rounds). He moved from a tie for 75th after round one to a tie for 18th following the second round. He then moved up 11 spots in the standings during the final 18 holes.
Trent finished the event, which featured seven teams ranked in the nation's top 30, at 5-under 208, tallying 14 birdies over 54 holes. For the week, he averaged 69.33 strokes per round.
