LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV cross country team begins its 2018 season at the Fresno Invitational Saturday morning at Woodward Park in Clovis, California. The one-day meet will feature squads from Antelope Valley, CSU Bakersfield, Sacramento State and UCLA as well as cohosts Fresno State and Fresno Pacific.
"We are excited for the start of a new season," said UNLV's
Yvonne Wade. "We have a few new faces and some great energy with this group. The goal for the first one out is to see what their strengths and weaknesses are and to learn to run as a team; so, that we can build for the rest of the season."
This weekend's roster will consist of three juniors, two sophomores and four freshmen with
Kennedy Allen,
Payton Fratusco,
Agnes Mansaray,
Grace Moore,
Elisa Rovere, Emma Scmid,
Kara Smith,
Nicole Snow and
Emma Wahlenmaier representing the Scarlet & Gray.
Rovere and Wahlenmaier will pace the squad this season after the duo ran in all six races for UNLV last year.
REBELS AT HOME: Following a second trip to the Golden State – Sept. 15 at the UC Riverside Invitational, the Rebels will host their own the UNLV Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 22 in nearby Henderson at the Lake Las Vegas Sports Club.
