RIVERSIDE, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV cross country team finished 13th overall at the UC Riverside Invitational Saturday morning. The Rebels compiled a team score of 376 with a total time of 1:53:42 in the 6K contested at UCR's Ag Ops Course.
The Scarlet & Gray was paced by
Agnes Mansaray's 11th-place finish in a personal-best time of 20:53.8.
Elisa Rovere was the second Rebel to cross the finish line with a time of 22:17.3, which was good enough for 69th and a personal best.
Emma Wahlenmaier (95th/22:41.6),
Kennedy Allen (114th/23:06.4),
Payton Fratusco (154th/24:43.3) and
Nicole Snow (158th/25:29.0) rounded out UNLV's scorers.
QUOTABLE: ""This was their first 6k out for the season and they did well," said
Yvonne Wade. "We still have a lot to build, but am pleased with how they competed. Agnes (Mansaray) is a competitor and she always fights to push herself in any setting. She has a great future ahead of her."
RACE RESULTS: Southern Utah won the 21-team event with a team score of 31 and a time of 1:42:49, and had the first- and third-place finishers – Angie Nickerson (1st/20:00.6) and Madison Fruchey (3rd/20:26.2). Cal Baptist finished second (44/1:43:44) with help from three top-seven showings. Utah Valley was third overall (108/1:46:29).
REBELS AT HOME: The Rebels will host their own meet next weekend (Sept. 22) at the Lake Las Vegas Sports Club in nearby Henderson. The day will consist of a men's 8K (7:15 am) and a women's 5K (8:00 am) as well as a varsity boys 5K (8:30 am), a varsity girls 5K (9:15 am), an open boys 5K (10:00 am) and an open girls 5K (10:45 am).
