LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -Â The UNLV Lady Rebels and the UNLV Athletic Department will be honoring the 33rd annual celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday, February 2, by hosting a free sports clinic prior to the Lady Rebel home game later that afternoon against Utah State in the Cox Pavilion.
The day will start with the free sports clinic, as players and staff from several athletic teams at UNLV, including volleyball and women's soccer, will be helping to run the event for kids (girls and boys) between 2nd and 8th grades at the Mendenhall Center. Doors open at 10:30 for registration while the clinic starts at 11:30 am with different stations spread out over the Mendenhall Center and the practice courts at the Cox Pavilion. Following the clinic, all participants are invited to attend the UNLV Lady Rebels contest against Boise State for free, with the game starting at 2 pm in the Cox Pavilion. All participants will receive free pizza after the completion of the clinic.
Members of the Las Vegas Aces will be in attendance at the all-sports clinic and the Lady Rebels contest as well.
While each participant will receive free admission, their parents can receive tickets at a special NGWSD price with a special code, available on the registration website. Tickets for the game are $8 for adults and $6 for seniors and staff, while kids 17 and under are free at Lady Rebel contests. Fans can also receive $3 off admission if bought online at UNLVTickets.com at least three hours before the game.
NGWSD is celebrated in all 50 states with community-based events, award ceremonies, and activities honoring the achievements and encouraging participation of girls and women in sports, starting back in 1987. The national-wide celebration is jointly organized by the National Girls and Women in Sport Coalition, and the theme for 2019 is "Lead Her Forward."
