Runnin' Rebels Host San José State Saturday At 4:30 PM

UNLV men's basketball looking for third straight home win, game to be televised on AT&T SportsNet.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - After two straight road games, the UNLV men's basketball team will return home to the Thomas & Mack Center to host San José State on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 4:30 p.m.

UNLV (9-7, 3-1) was off to its first 3-0 start to conference play in 20 years and for the first time in its Mountain West history before losing at Air Force on Wednesday night. The Runnin' Rebels will be looking for their third straight home win after opening MW play with victories over Colorado State and Wyoming.

In the game Wednesday, sophomore guard Amauri Hardy scored a career-high 23 points on 7 of 14 shooting, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range.

UNLV has been led in scoring this year by senior guard Kris Clyburn, who is averaging 13.4 ppg. Freshman forward Joel Ntambwe is close behind at 12.8 ppg, while Hardy is third at 12.4 ppg. Senior forward Shakur Juiston, who will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, averaged 10.8 ppg and 8.8 rpg over eight games played. The team's current rebounding leader, sophomore forward Mbacke Diong (6.3 rpg), missed the Air Force game with an ankle injury. He also leads the team in blocks (third in the MW) with 1.7 bpg. Senior guard Noah Robotham is the Runnin' Rebel assist leader (4.1 apg), ranking fifth in the MW.

San José State (3-13, 0-4) has lost seven straight games and is coming off an 81-63 home loss to Utah State. The Spartans have three players averaging in double-figure scoring, led by Michael Steadman's 12.3 ppg.

Saturday's game will be televised on AT&T SportsNet with Jenny Cavnar and Dave Bollwinkel calling the action. Jon Sandler, former Runnin' Rebel Robert Smith, and Steve Cofield (sideline reporter) will handle the UNLV radio call, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM and online via the UNLV Gameday App and TuneIn (link at UNLVRebels.com).
