UNLV Game NotesÂ
♦ One positive in the overtime loss at New Mexico on Wednesday, the Lady Rebels set a season-high in points scored (80), while senior Katie Powell continues to improve each game after sitting out the month of December, as she posted a team-high 22 points.
♦ UNLV has played the toughest schedule in the Mountain West through its first six games, as the Lady Rebels are one of only two teams to have already played four road games, while at the same time they have played a league-low two games on their home court. That starts to turn around Saturday, as seven of the final 12 games will be in Las Vegas.
♦ The Lady Rebels have been strong on their home courts the past three conference seasons, going 24-5 in league play (21-5 in the Cox Pavilion, 3-0 in the Thomas & Mack Center). That includes last season's 8-1 home record which included a six-point overtime victory over the Aztecs. SDSU's last win in Las Vegas over UNLV was 74-60 on Jan. 16, 2013, as the Lady Rebels have won the past five meetings in Las Vegas, four by double-digits.
♦ UNLV has been showing marked improvement on defense in conference action, holding four of its past six opponents to under 58 points.
