AS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's swimming freshman Julia Filippova has been named the DC Solar Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday. This is the second time during 2018-19 Filippova has earned the honor, her first coming on Nov. 7, 2018.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletic Communications department.

Filippova, a Moscow, Russia, native, swept the 50 meter, 100 meter and 200 meter freestyle events to capture the Sprinter's Triple Crown last weekend against Wyoming. She clocked times of 23.54 in the 50, 51.43 in the 100 and 1:51.17 in the 200 en route to her three victories, which helped the Rebels pick up the team win over Wyoming.

In her first collegiate season, she currently holds the third fastest time in the 200 free (1:48.15), sixth fastest in the 100 free (50.10) and the 18th fastest in the 50 free (23.34) in the MountainWest this year.

Next up for Filippova and the Rebels is a meet at Grand Canyon this Saturday, February 2 at 1 p.m. where they will be looking for their fourth straight win in dual meets.
