DENVER (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV sophomores
Tom Ciszewski and
Milos Dabic are the Rebel singles player still alive after Wednesday's first day of action at the 2019 ITA Mountain Region Men's Championships being held at the Denver Tennis Park.
Ciszewski downed Patrick Seklenka of Air Force, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3, to advance to the Round of 32 while Dabic won a play-in match, 6-1, 6-7, 6-4, over Jonathan Mascagni of Air Force and then breezed past Utah's Azat Hankuliyev, 6-1, 6-3.
Two other Rebels,
Anton Ornberg and
Zach Garner, won their opening matches but fell in the second round later in the day.
UNLV will also have two doubles teams competing starting Thursday.
The ITA Regional Championships feature more than 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country. In Division I, regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Newport Beach, California.
