Trent Tied For Individual Lead After Day One In Florida

UNLV men's golf team in 13th place after the first round at tough Tavistock Collegiate Invitational.

WINDERMERE, Fla. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's golf junior Jack Trent shot 5-under-par 67 Sunday during the first round of the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, which is being hosted by UCF and West Virginia at Isleworth Country Club (par 72, 7,544 yards).

Trent is tied for the tournament's individual lead with California's Finigan Tilly. The pair lead Florida's John Axelsen and UCF's Jordan Sarhaddi by a shot. Two others are two shots back of the leaders at 3-under.

UCF holds the team lead at 8-under 280, followed by Florida in second at 3-under. LSU and California are tied for third at 1-under, while Minnesota rounds out the top five at even par.

The Rebels are 9-over for the tournament, in 13th place. There are a total of 15 teams and 75 individuals competing. Five teams are ranked among the top 25 in the Golfstat rankings.

STAT OF THE DAY: Only four teams are under par for the tournament.

REBEL OF THE DAY: Trent recorded an eagle, six birdies and a bogey before suffering a double bogey on the 18th hole. He was 7-under through 17 holes in the first round.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The tournament's second round will begin Monday at 8 a.m. ET. UNLV will begin at 9:15 a.m. ET off the 10th hole with South Carolina and West Virginia.

NOTABLE:
• This is the Rebels' fourth and final tournament of the fall season.
• Trent has finished in the top 10 individually in all three tournaments this season and has recorded one career individual victory (2019 Southern Highlands Collegiate).
• UNLV lost Mountain West Golfer of the Year and All-America Scholar Harry Hall to graduation following last season. He competed at the prestigious Walker Cup in September, becoming just the third Rebel in program history to be invited. 
• The Rebels have welcomed four new players to this year's roster.
• Last year's team appeared in a NCAA-record 31st straight regional and advanced to the national finals where it finished in the top 20.
• Trent and David Rauch are UNLV's returning All-Mountain West performers. Trent recently competed at the PGA Tour's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas thanks to an amateur exemption with his win at the SHC. He made the cut and finished tied for 29th.
Justin Kim, who turned in UNLV's best individual finish at the NCAA Finals last season, was also named an All-America Scholar.
• This year marks head coach Dwaine Knight's 33rd season leading the Rebel program.
