Rebels Tied For 11th After Second Round In Florida

Jack Trent is three shots off the lead heading into the final round at tough Tavistock Collegiate Invitational.

WINDERMERE, Fla. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team shot a second-round 1-over-par 289 Monday and is tied for 11th at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, which is being hosted by UCF and West Virginia at Isleworth Country Club (par 72, 7,544 yards).

UCF increased its team lead to 17 shots with a 13-under 275 Monday and is 21-under for the tournament. No. 2 Texas Tech and No. 21 Vanderbilt are both tied for second at 4-under, while LSU and California are tied for fourth at 2-under. The Rebels' 36-hole total is 10-over 586.

Individually, California's Finigan Tilly holds a one-shot lead at 7under. There is a three-way tie for second at 6-under.

UNLV has been led by junior Jack Trent, who is tied for seventh, three shots back at 4-under.

There are a total of 15 teams and 75 individuals competing. Five teams are ranked among the top 25 in the Golfstat rankings.

REBEL OF THE DAY: Sophomore David Rauch shot UNLV's best round of the day at 2-under 70. He recorded three birdies and a bogey.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The tournament's final round will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. ET. UNLV will begin at 8:25 a.m. ET off the 10th hole with Augusta and Illinois.

NOTABLE:
• This is the Rebels' fourth and final tournament of the fall season.
• Trent has finished in the top 10 individually in all three tournaments this season and has recorded one career individual victory (2019 Southern Highlands Collegiate).
• UNLV lost Mountain West Golfer of the Year and All-America Scholar Harry Hall to graduation following last season. He competed at the prestigious Walker Cup in September, becoming just the third Rebel in program history to be invited. 
• The Rebels have welcomed four new players to this year's roster.
• Last year's team appeared in a NCAA-record 31st straight regional and advanced to the national finals where it finished in the top 20.
• Trent and Rauch are UNLV's returning All-Mountain West performers. Trent recently competed at the PGA Tour's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas thanks to an amateur exemption with his win at the SHC. He made the cut and finished tied for 29th.
• Justin Kim, who turned in UNLV's best individual finish at the NCAA Finals last season, was also named an All-America Scholar.
• This year marks head coach Dwaine Knight's 33rd season leading the Rebel program.
