Jack Trent Turns In Fourth Straight Top-10 Individual Finish

Rebel golfer tied for seventh at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational; Rebels were 14th as a team.

WINDERMERE, Fla. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's golf junior Jack Trent finished in the top 10 individually for the fourth straight tournament as he tied for seventh at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, which was hosted by UCF and West Virginia at Isleworth Country Club (par 72, 7,544 yards).

Trent shot a final-round even-par 72 Tuesday to finish 4-under for the tournament.

UCF earned the team title by 16 shots at 22-under. LSU placed second at 6-under, followed by Vanderbilt in third at 1-under. No. 2 Texas Tech finished fourth at even par, while California rounded out the top five at 1-over. The Rebels finished 14th as a team at 22-over.

UCF's Johnny Travale and LSU's Trey Winstead each shot 8-under 64 during the final round, with Travale earning medalist honors by three shots at 14-under. Winstead was runner-up at 11-under.

There were a total of 15 teams and 75 individuals competing. Five teams are ranked among the top 25 in the Golfstat rankings.

REBEL OF THE DAY: Trent's even-par final round was UNLV's best of the day. It consisted of three birdies and three bogeys.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: This was UNLV's final fall tournament of the season. The Rebels will begin their spring schedule Feb. 3 at the Sea Best Intercollegiate in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

NOTABLE:
• Trent has recorded one career individual victory (2019 Southern Highlands Collegiate).
• UNLV lost Mountain West Golfer of the Year and All-America Scholar Harry Hall to graduation following last season. He competed at the prestigious Walker Cup in September, becoming just the third Rebel in program history to be invited.
• The Rebels have welcomed four new players to this year's roster.
• Last year's team appeared in a NCAA-record 31st straight regional and advanced to the national finals where it finished in the top 20.
• Trent and Rauch are UNLV's returning All-Mountain West performers. Trent recently competed at the PGA Tour's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas thanks to an amateur exemption with his win at the SHC. He made the cut and finished tied for 29th.
Justin Kim, who turned in UNLV's best individual finish at the NCAA Finals last season, was also named an All-America Scholar.
• This year marks head coach Dwaine Knight's 33rd season leading the Rebel program.
