LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV's top doubles team is still alive after two more rounds Friday at the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region Championships being held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on campus.
 
Members from 20 western teams are facing off as individuals through Sunday on 12 courts each day in both singles and doubles.
 
En-Pei Huang and Izumi Asano, seeded seventh, first got by Leah Heimuli and Kate Cusick of BYU, 8-5, and then upset second-seeded TJ Fumagalli and Meredith Jones of Air Force, 8-3, in the quarterfinals. The UNLV duo will next face sixth-seeded Madison Tattina and Whitney Hekking of Utah in Saturday's semifinals, which are set to start at 9 a.m. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
 
The ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. More than 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country. In Division I, regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
