LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -- The UNLV men's tennis team will close out its fall season by hosting the annual Larry Easley Memorial Classic this weekend at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on campus.
 
Players from six other western programs are competing in the individual event. Opponents scheduled to send competitors are UCLA, SMU, Gonzaga, Cal Poly, San Diego State and Loyola Marymount.
 
The tournament kicks off at 9 a.m. PT Friday and will be made up of two flights each of singles and doubles with consolation play in both. Admission is free of charge.
 
UNLV's Olle Thestrup downed UCLA's Connor Rapp in a 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 thriller to win last year's singles title.
 
The annual event was renamed in 2010 in honor of UNLV Hall of Famer Larry Easley, who passed away from illness in 2005 at the age of 57. Easley coached the UNLV men's tennis team longer than anyone in history and produced sometimes-spectacular results over his dozen seasons from 1993-2002, including producing five All-Americans and two NCAA individual champions.
