SATURDAY'S PREVIEW...
In the third edition of the Ninth Island Showdown sponsored by the California Hotel, UNLV (2-7/0-5) hosts Hawai'i (6-4/3-3) and looks to win its sixth consecutive game played on the mainland against the Rainbow Warriors ... A rare day meeting with UH, this will mark only the third home appearance for the Rebels in their last eight outings ... The game will be produced by Spectrum Sports for pay-per-view back on the islands but appear free here on Facebook ... UNLV enjoyed its second bye of the season last week while UH downed San Jose State in Honolulu, 42-40 ... Redshirt freshman QB and local product Kenyon Oblad has played the last 22 quarters after Armani Rogers got banged up at Wyoming ... Oblad's 1,531 passing yards rank fourth in program history by a freshman while his 12 touchdowns sit third (and tied for eighth in the nation among all current freshmen). Oblad has also tied the school record by throwing at least two touchdowns in five consecutive games ... Three of the MW's top scoring WRs will appear in this game: UH's JoJo Ward (first with 10 TDs) and Cedric Byrd (second with 9 TDs), and UNLV's Randal Grimes (tied for third with 6 TDs) ... Grimes is the first Rebel to catch a TD in four straight games since Phillip Payne did it a school-record tying five times in 2008 ... RB Charles Williams leads the Mountain West and is ranked 25th in the nation with 876 net rushing yards. Including a career-high 168 vs. Arkansas State, the "Chuck Wagon" also is tied for the lead among all conference players with four 100-yard games in 2019 ... LB Javin White has two of UNLV's three interceptions this season and his eight career picks ties him for 10th in the nation among active FBS players. White's also tied for ninth nationally with seven career forced fumbles.

REBELS vs. RAINBOW WARRIORS NOTES...
Hawai'i leads the overall series 16-12 but the Rebels have won nine of the last 15 meetings, including three of the last four and five straight played in Las Vegas ... The home team has won this matchup in nine of the last 10 years with only the UNLV 2016 win in Honolulu bucking the trend ... Five of the last six games have been decided by one score ... Among FBS teams, only UNR is as old a Rebel rival as Hawai'i -- both schools first played UNLV in 1969, which was just the second year of the Rebel program ... UNLV has four players who list Aloha State hometowns: Senior DB Soli Afalava, senior OL Nate Oishi, redshirting OL Leif Fautanu and freshman RB Avery Miguel ... Second-year UH OL coach Mark Weber held the same position at UNLV from 1994-96.
